HISTORY, POLITICS & GOVERNANCE

Before we discuss nationalism and the rise of political ideologies, it is important to learn the basic concepts of politics and governance and how it is related to history.
According to Plato, politics is the heart of political science. It is also the study of the affairs of city-states (polis). It can also be referred to as the most sovereign and inclusive association.
For Robert Dahl, politics is the existence of rules or authority, study of power relationship, and the relationship among states within international community.

Meanwhile, another essential concept to learn and understand is governance. However, many get confused and interchange the word with government. On the one hand, government refers to the people with the authority to govern and is an instrument of governance. On the other hand, governance is the exercise of authority to manage a nation and the process of decision making.
POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES
Ideologies are the sets of basic beliefs about the political, economic, social and cultural affairs held by the majority of people within as society.
